In my 20s, I was the poster child for entrepreneurial burnout - overweight, stressed, and riddled with anxiety. I worshipped at the altar of productivity, sacrificing my well-being in the process. But then, a glimmer of hope emerged.
In my 30s, I found a mentor who helped me discover a path to balance and integration, reclaiming my life without sacrificing my dreams. Through deep personal work, meditation, and the power of cacao, I created a life where success and fulfillment coexisted.
In my 40s, at the height of my career, Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) entered my life. This autoimmune disorder caused my immune system to affect my nerves, severing the connection of my motor and sensory nerves, and stopping the communication from my body parts to my brain. Within days, I was completely paralyzed, unable to move even a finger, let alone speak or blink.
The diagnosis was a shock. GBS is an unpredictable illness, with recovery ranging from partial to none at all. The uncertainty was terrifying. I was trapped in my own body, my future a blank slate filled with daunting possibilities.
Faced with this immense challenge, I refused to give in to despair. Instead of fighting, I chose to embrace this new reality and focus on healing. With the support of loved ones, I embarked on a journey of rediscovery, learning valuable lessons and nurturing my body back to health. That’s when my daily cacao practice became my most valuable medicine.
While the road to recovery was long and arduous, filled with setbacks and frustrations, I never lost sight of my goal. Through sheer determination, unwavering support, and a focus on holistic well-being, I gradually regained control of my body. It was a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of the mind to overcome even the most formidable obstacles.
